Montessori

ILM Academy's Montessori programs are one of a kind – the first Islamic Montessori program in Metro Atlanta offering the benefits of Montessori education while adhering to ILM Academy's Vision and Mission. ILM Academy Montessori offers three programs – Montessori Bambinos, Primary Montessori, and Elementary Montessori – catering to students ages 18 months to 9 years old. Montessori is a scientific method, practical and tested, for bringing forth the very best in students from a young age. By addressing each student's physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional needs, we foster their enthusiasm for learning, creativity, and social development. The Montessori learning accommodates children of all abilities in a natural, mixed-age setting, mirroring the society they will eventually join as adults.

All Montessori classrooms are designed as structured Montessori and equipped with high-quality Montessori Materials led by the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE: AMI/AMS) or North American Montessori Teachers' Association (NAMTA) Certified teachers with extensive Montessori teaching background

'Bambinos' – Montessori Toddlers Program 18 months to 3-year-olds

ILM's toddler program 'Bambinos' offers three-, four-, or five-day enrollment options for 18-month to 3-year-olds. Committed, nurturing, and experienced teachers implement the Montessori philosophy and toddlers' curriculum. An integral part of toddlers' development is strengthening their fine and gross motor skills, fostering cognitive and language development, and developing their social skills. Bambinos provide an environment that promotes independence, movement, and coordination, setting the foundation to develop toddlers' focus and concentration. Toddlers learn to care for themselves, care for others, and care for the environment at a very young age. The loving, tender, and Islamic atmosphere puts the parents at ease and prepares their children to transition to Primary Montessori or PreK programs.

Primary Montessori Program for (3-6 year-olds)

In ILM Academy's Primary Montessori program, designed for 3 - 6-year-olds, MACTE-certified teachers provide the benefits of Montessori education in a prepared environment. Adhering to the scientific method of Dr. Maria Montessori's theory, the 'Absorbent mind' is the core element of the program that caters to children's emotional, physical, and psychological needs. Students follow the kinesthetic approach of learning that emphasizes the scientific teaching method in areas such as practical life, sensorial, math, language, and cultural subjects. The program believes in observing and meeting needs that are continual and specific for each child. The aim is to respect individual differences in children and provide an environment to foster these differences into unique strengths. Montessori materials provide concrete to abstract learning and are always accessible, attractive, and geared for a child's success. Activities are changed in response to children's need for variety and challenge as they grow and learn.

Elementary Montessori Program 6-9-year-olds

ILM’s Montessori Elementary program continues to implement Montessori education to an advanced level in a mixed-aged classroom for 6-9-year-olds. They explore the academic world through discovery and experimentation and increase their knowledge through reading, mathematics, creative writing, research methods, science, botany, zoology, anatomy, geography, geology, history, art, and physical education. Instead of solely relying on teaching subjects, the kinesthetic learning approach also emphasizes the 'Tarbiyah' of the young Muslims with the Quran, Islamic studies, and Arabic incorporated into the curriculum. Elementary Montessori students are encouraged to exhibit a desire to teach, help, and care for themselves, others, and their environment. They practice being inquisitive and are directed to research historical, scientific, artistic, and cultural knowledge through various literature, experiments, art projects, media resources, and field studies. The students focus on lesson mastery, independence, and building a love of learning with rapid intellectual growth as they acquire the ability for logical thinking. The Elementary Montessori classroom is aligned with Georgia Standards and participates in all activities as their fellow students in a traditional classroom at IMC.
