School Governance and Leadership
In 2020, ILM Academy adopted a structural transformation by embracing a distributed leadership model. This contemporary leadership paradigm fosters collective, inventive, and agile leadership processes. Aligned with Islamic leadership values, the model serves as a guiding framework that propels ILM Academy's advancement in an upward trajectory.
The primary objective of this leadership model is to seamlessly integrate Islamic leadership principles, optimal educational leadership practices, and the overarching mission, vision, and growth strategies of ILM Academy into every facet of its operations.
Learn moreAs our school grows, it is crucial to continually enhance, envision, and rejuvenate ILM's approach to future success in the modern world while remaining true to our founders' original mission and vision. The initiative to rethink ILM Academy's governance structure commenced in January 2021, involving members from the Bylaws Committee, including the existing Governing Board, select school founders, and ILM's legal counsel. Following a thorough review and deliberation spanning over two years, we revised the Articles of Incorporation, ILM's bylaws, and governance policies and procedures. A significant improvement includes establishing a Board of Trustees, providing elevated oversight and safeguarding for the school.
Learn moreSince its humble beginnings over 15 years ago, the governance of ILM Academy has been led by the dedicated and passionate Governing Board, typically serving 2-3 year terms. This volunteer body has shouldered the responsibility and "Amanah" of ensuring our children receive the best in academics, Islamic environment, and opportunities for success. The Board of Governors maintains responsibility for executing the school's vision and mission. They work closely and regularly with the ILM Administration team to ensure consistent year-over-year growth and excellence.

Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging at ILM
ILM Academy continues to elevate its efforts to improve our students' Muslim identity and to ensure that all students’ identities are respected and cherished. Our values around diversity, Inclusion, and belonging strictly embraces the message from the Quran to recognize our differences and uphold our prophet (SAWW) 's message from his last sermon:
"O humanity! Indeed, We created you from a male and a female and made you into peoples and tribes so that you may get to know one another. Surely the noblest of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous among you. Allah is truly All-Knowing, All-Aware." Al-Quran (49:13)
Alhumdullilah ILM Academy serves a diverse community in Metro Atlanta, and the school's students and staff demographic truly reflects this community. ILM Academy is dedicated to improving our students' Muslim characteristics through implementing an Islamic curriculum that diligently incorporates lessons on bringing awareness about stereotypes, prejudice, racism, and discrimination.
Our History
ILM Academy's roots trace back to 2006 when a group of mothers in North Alpharetta initiated a homeschooling program aimed to offer exceptional academic and Islamic education called Hadeeqat Al-Atfaal, offering Pre-k programs to 3- and 4-year-olds with Hamzah Islamic Center's support.
In May 2008, the parent body and school administration, after discussions with HIC's board, decided to establish ILM Academy as an independently governed non-profit corporation with its own by-laws, building, etc. As a result, ILM Academy was officially incorporated on June 16, 2008.
