Samia holds a Bachelors in Bio-medical Engineering from UC Berkeley. She has also successfully completed Al-Huda's one year diploma course in Quranic and Islamic Studies from Islamabad, Pakistan. Samia has been extensively involved with community based Islamic educational programs in Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and the US. Since her move to Alpharetta in 2007, she has helped organize summer programs for Alpharetta/Roswell area local mosques. Samia is an ILM Academy founder.

 

Faiza Mehar Interim Office Administrator

Faiza Mehar received her BA from RLAK College. She also holds a Medical Assistant Degree from Camden County College. Faiza has over ten years of experience working for fast paced software, hi-tech and pharmaceutical companies and helping them manage their finances. In addition to her professional experience, she has served the Muslim community extensively via volunteering at community mosques, the Atlanta Girl Scouts, MIST as well as the Al-Huda Islamic School in College Park, MD. Faiza is an ILM Academy founder.

 

Sara Noman Pre-Kindergarten Level 1 Teacher

Sara holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and a diploma in Early Childhood Education from Lanier Technical College. Sara has worked at McGinnis Woods County Day School with Pre-Kindergarten children before joining ILM Academy. Additionally, she is also CPR and First Aid certified. Sara hopes to provide a supportive environment for the developing needs of the Muslim Youth throughout their educational experience at ILM Academy.

 

Hiam Alshinnawi Pre-Kindergarten Level 1 Arabic & Quran Teacher

Hiam holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Beirut University and is certified by the Council for Professional Recognition to teach and work with Preschool children. Hiam has over thirteen years of experience working with young children in the public school arena both in the United States and Palestine. Hiam cares about harmonizing the Muslim youth along with transmitting essential Muslim values to her students.

 

Yasmin Shaikh Pre-Kindergarten 2 Teacher

Yasmin holds a bachelor’s degree in Commerce, a professional certificate in Early Childhood Learning and Care, and a diploma in Teacher’s Training. Yasmin has over five years of experience in childhood education. She is also CPR and First Aid certified. Yasmin firmly believes in ILM's values of instilling Islamic education in early childhood and has consequently enrolled her daughter at ILM Academy.

 

Shabana Ahmed Kindergarten Teacher

Shabana’s six years of teaching experience working with lower Elementary students began at Atlanta’s Dar-un-Noor school. After a five year career of teaching at Dar-un-Noor, Shabana moved on to become a Kindergarten teacher at Hadeeqat-Al-Atfaal and worked there for a year before joining ILM Academy. Shabana, who serves Muslims students actively, has been responsible for initiating a multitude of projects that have made ILM’s kindergarten classroom a dynamic, engaging and productive environment. She believes in sharing the light of knowledge, and spreading the power of love and devotion while instilling a strong Muslim identity in each of her students.

 

Atika Shaikh First Grade Teacher & Teacher Coordinator

Atika holds two bachelors degrees in Zoology and Education (Math and Science) from Bombay University. Atika’s teaching career began in 1995 as an elementary school teacher in Bombay, India. Atika also taught at Hadeeqat-Al-Atfaal in 2006-2008. Atika enjoys the challenges she faces daily working in a multicultural Muslim environment as well as maintaining her balance between family responsibilities and her active involvement with the Muslim community of the Atlanta area. Atika is an ILM Academy founder.

 

Anna Alcantara Second Grade Teacher

Anna holds a bachelor’s degree of Science in Elementary Education from Kansas State University, as well as an endorsement in English as a Second Language (ESL) along with a minor in French. Anna also maintains a Texas Board of Educator Certificate and has over three years experience teaching in the Public School System in both Kansas and Texas. Additionally, Anna has received specialized workshop training from the National American Bilingual Education (NABE) and the Hispanic American Leadership Organization (HALO). Anna was bestowed several notable recognitions during her academic years and has been honored as a Phi Theta Kappa Honor student, Kansas Honor Scholar and awarded the prestigious Presidential Scholarship. Furthermore, Anna is well acquainted with working in both bilingual and mainstream English classroom settings for grades Pre-K through to 8th Grade. She believes that in order to instill strong Islamic values in the Muslim youth it is essential to extend Islamic education to them at an age when they are most receptive to knowledge. Anna hopes to inspire her students through quality education and provide a loving, safe, and challenging environment in order to develop successful and productive members of society.

Nisreen Mashayekh Arabic Teacher - Pre K2 and Kindergarten

Nisreen holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Mercer University, as well as a diploma in Computer Information Systems from Interactive College of Technology. Nisreen has received a specialized Certificate from Georgia Perimeter College in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL). Nisreen joins us with five years of educational experience. Her teaching career began at Dar Bader School in Lawrenceville. She has also taught at Clayton State University. Nisreen believes in providing a supportive environment for the developing needs of Muslim children throughout their Arabic educational experience.
